€25.00

A story full of feelings: this is how children can overcome a separation phase

Regardless of whether one parent lives further away, the siblings are at school all day or one parent has to travel for work: when their loved ones are not with them, small children are often overwhelmed by missing them. This lovingly illustrated picture book provides comfort in the absence of a caregiver. It addresses the topic of separation in an age-appropriate manner and shows how families can deal with the longing for a family member.

With “Mommy and Mommy and Me: The Great Missing,” Michael L. Printz Award winner Nina LaCour tells the touching story of a child who misses a parent in everyday family life. There is no better place in the world for this little girl than between mommy and mommy. But then mommy has to go away for a whole week. The place at the family table remains empty and the great missing begins. No matter how hard mom tries to distract herself, the pain of separation will soon become as deep as the ocean and as high as the stars in the sky for the girl. But then mother and daughter have an idea of how they can lovingly prepare for their reunion.

About the publisher

A Berlin publisher

We met and fell in love in 2012 when Anna was on a language trip to Berlin. Initially, Anna lived in Warsaw, where she studied linguistics, and Lukas lived in Berlin, where he set up his first company. After a few years of long-distance relationship, connected by the Berlin-Warsaw express train, Anna moved to Berlin, and in 2016 we got married on a beach in the Seychelles. What connected us from the start: We love books and are proud of our large bookshelf.

In 2018, happiness became perfect: our twins Zoë and Vincent were born. Now we bought children's books in the three languages our children are growing up with: German, English and Polish. We noticed that many wonderful children's books are available in one language but not in the other. That's why we, a translator and an entrepreneur, decided to publish these books ourselves!

And so we founded Zuckersüß Verlag. Since 2019 we have been searching, finding and translating the most beautiful children's books in the world and bringing them to Germany. For ourselves and our children and all young families who enjoy reading together.
