We are working to develop more sustainable alternatives by producing them from natural and fast-growing raw materials like bamboo. Cotton is not suitable for single-use products
According to WWF, the water consumption for one kilogram of conventional cotton is up to 10,000 liters. For a single cotton pad, this amounts to 4 liters of water. And this is just for the production of the raw material; additional water and energy consumption occurs during the production of the cotton pads themselves.
From this perspective, it is a waste of valuable resources that millions of cotton pads are discarded every day after just a few seconds of use.
Organic cotton to protect our soils
Conventional cotton is grown with massive use of pesticides and fertilizers. A study by the Environmental Institute in Munich showed that pesticide use per hectare in Germany has increased by 24.3% since 1994. Pesticides not only harm beneficial insects like bees but also the fertility of the soil. By using organic cotton, we avoid the use of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. This way, you can be sure that your makeup remover pads have not destroyed the habitat of bees or butterflies!
Plastic-free packaging
Conventional cotton pads are packaged in plastic, contributing to the global waste problem. In fact, plastic packaging is among the ten most commonly found types of waste in the ocean. With the pandoo reusable makeup remover pads, the packaging is now also 100% biodegradable.
FAQ's
Can waterproof makeup/eye makeup be removed with the makeup remover pads?
This works without any problems. For a gentle cleansing, we recommend using coconut oil for waterproof makeup: the oil dissolves the makeup and can be easily removed with the makeup remover pad.
In general, we recommend moistening the pads with lukewarm water when using very liquid care products, so that the absorbent pads do not absorb too much of the lotion.
Are the makeup remover pads suitable for facial toner or are they too absorbent?
The makeup remover pads are rather absorbent, so we recommend moistening the makeup remover pad with water beforehand and then applying the facial toner as a film over it.Toners, which are more like caring facial waters, are best applied directly to the face.
How do I get the makeup removal pads clean again?
The pads can be easily washed in the bag at 40°C on a delicate wash cycle or gentle wash program.
The makeup removal pads are not suitable for the dryer.
For very dirty pads (from highly pigmented or charcoal-containing cosmetic products), the makeup removal pads can be pre-washed. Simply rinse the pad under the tap after facial cleansing. For heavy soiling, soak the pad in lukewarm water with a bit of pure soap for a few minutes.
My pads are not as soft as they were at the beginning…
Due to the friction that occurs during use and the frequent washing, the pads may lose some of their softness over time. This is unavoidable with textile products. To avoid this for as long as possible, we recommend using a bit of table vinegar or vinegar essence when washing (the laundry won't smell like vinegar afterwards, don't worry!).
Why is the sewing thread made of polyester?
We have decided to use polyester thread so that the makeup removal pads are significantly more durable than with cotton thread. Our goal is for the reusable pads to accompany our everyday heroes for as long as possible.
The proportion of polyester is less than 1%.
Can the makeup removal pads be used to remove nail polish?
We have not tested the pads on nail polish (remover) nor do we intend to promote this actively. Most nail polishes contain plastic, which would lead to microplastics entering the wastewater during the wash cycle.
