Making the world a better place: Stories of brave Black women!
“Little Leaders” introduces 40 women from Black history who have achieved extraordinary things: For example, NASA mathematician Katherine Johnson, who helped send people to the moon. Or Bessie Coleman, the first African American pilot in the world. And the first Black astronaut – Dr. Mae Jemison! Brave women who have changed the world and should be role models for all children.
“Little Leaders” is the second volume of the New York Times bestseller series and follows “Little Dreamers.” Once again, Vashti Harrison has not only beautifully illustrated the women in the book but also provided interesting short biographies that children from 8 years old can wonderfully read by themselves.
We are particularly pleased that our translator Ciani-Sophia Hoeder introduces three personalities from Germany, May Ayim, Natasha Kelly, and Shary Reeves, whom every child should know!
“Little Leaders” shows us brave, courageous women. Whether they put pen to paper, soared through the skies, or fought for the rights of others – the women featured advocated for a world where they were not always accepted. It is all the more important for children to learn their stories!
- Poets, scientists, and politicians: Female role models from all fields
- Against all odds: Black women who paved the way for future generations
- Never let yourself be defeated! A children's book against racism and misogyny
- From Phillis Wheatley to Dominique Dawes: Strong women through the centuries
- Which woman is your greatest role model? An inspiring gift for girls aged 6 and up
For children aged 6 and up

We love it because
Zuckersüß has one of the most beautiful children's books in the world.A small Berlin publishing house with sweet books and illustrations. We appreciate the themes of the books as well as the inclusive and empowering approach.
About the publisher

We got to know and love each other in 2012 when Anna was on a language trip in Berlin. Initially, Anna lived in Warsaw, where she studied linguistics, and Lukas was in Berlin, where he started his first company. After a few years of long-distance relationship, connected by the Berlin-Warsaw express train, Anna moved to Berlin, and in 2016 we got married on a beach in the Seychelles. What has connected us from the beginning: We love books and are proud of our large bookshelf.
In 2018, our happiness was complete: Our twins Zoë and Vincent were born. Now we are buying children's books in the three languages our children are growing up with: German, English, and Polish. In doing so, we noticed that many beautiful children's books are available in one language but not in the other. Therefore, we, a translator and an entrepreneur, decided to simply publish these books ourselves!
And so we founded the Zuckersüß Verlag. Since 2019, we have been searching for, finding, and translating the most beautiful children's books in the world and bringing them to Germany. For ourselves and our children and all young families who enjoy reading together.
